Walt Bergman

Long time community member Walt Bergmen was awarded The 2017 Kiwanis Citizen of the Year Award. As the Daily Sentinel reported, this award is presented to a person who helps improve the lives of children in the community. For 35 years, Bergman has long been an advocate involving special-needs children in activities other children enjoy. As an adaptive physical education teacher, he has taught specialneeds children to ski, swim, bike and play baseball as well as other activities. He is the tournament director for JUCO and helped start the Challenger Baseball program.
